Welcome to Avon Meadows!

Avon Meadows is Pershore’s very own nature reserve, just 5 minutes’ walk from the centre of town

It has 24 hectares of floodplain meadows, with a series of pools and scrapes surrounded by reedbeds. The central boardwalk gives a real feel for the wetland and its roadbeds, and there are plenty of footpaths to wander on.

It was established in 2008 by Pershore Town Council and Wychavon District Council to provide flood alleviation and protect wetland wildlife. It is supported by the Friends of Avon Meadows, a registered charity.

The reedbeds and pools help to clean up nearby street drainage, and provide a habitat for wetland birds and other species. Over 1200 different species of animal and plant have been found here.

Avon Meadows is open year-round. You can come and enjoy the natural environment alongside the Avon River in all seasons.

If you want to support our work, please join the Friends of Avon Meadows. Our volunteers conduct wildlife surveys and water quality testing, help to maintain the habitat, and provide input to the Councils.
